Here's lookin' at you, kid!

Evolving Images "Lifted Layering"

Heyyyyy,Folks...

Lifted Layering is Fun!!! You use only 2 sheets of paper, yet get the "look" of multiple layers. The back sheet stays untouched. The front sheet is cut into various open rectangles with the skinny 1/8" "between" rectangles lifted out. The rest of the open rectangles are glued to the background card.

To avoid confusion, I suggest you number your EvoTemplates with black permanent pen (doesn't have to be large, just in one corner) ... starting with the Largest...#1 through #7. On the Betweenies, number them... starting with the Largest... #1B through #6B. That way, as you develop your own favorite Lifted Layering formulas, you can just make a note of the #'s in the order you use them.

Card #1
EvoTemplates used in this card ...
The Dark Background Layer:
#1 Largest Rectangle... 5.5" x 4.25"
The Light Top Layers:
#2 Rectangle...5" x 3.75"
#3 Rectangle...4.5" x 3.25"
#3B Rect/Betweenie...4.25 x 3"
#4B Rect/Betweenie...3.75" x 2.5"
#5 Rectangle...3.5" x 2.25"
#6 Rectangle...3" x 1.75"
#6B Rect/Betweenie...2.75" x 1.5"

"Black Walnut" and "Natural" EvoCork Papers were used for the background layers. The images are stamped on "Medley", colored in with a combination of brushed-on dye ink and gel pens then glued in place.

Card #2
EvoTemplates used in this card ...
The Black Background Layer:
#1 Largest Rectangle... 5.5" x 4.25"
The Aqua Top Layers:
#1 Rect/Betweenie...5.25" x 4"
#2 Rect/Betweenie...4.75" x 3.5"
#3 Rectangle...4.5" x 3.25"
#4 Rectangle...4" x 2.75"

The 4 circles were created by cutting around the Circular EvoTemplates with fancy-edge scissors - 2 Aqua colored with Rub Ons, 1 black, 1 EvoCork. The seashells from Plate #37 were created by applying Rub Ons to Aqua paper, then stamping the images in black and cutting out like paper dolls. All then were placed and glued to Lifted Layered Background card.

Card #3
I played around with other lifted combinations here. The images were stamped on the Aqua paper... the skinny Layers were Lifted out ... then the rest were glued to the black background which I then mounted on a larger Aqua background paper. On this card, I also did some stippling on the Aqua paper before stamping. The trees are from Rubber Die Plate #5.

By the way, you can also do Lifted Layering with just the regular set of 7 EvoTemplates. The only difference, as you see in the card on the right, is that all your open areas will be wider ... no skinny ones. "Moss" EvoCork paper was used on this card. Images are from Plates #22 & #23.

Experiment and have fun!
